Sterling Vintner’s Collection Shiraz 2006

I stopped at Kroger’s on my way home from work today to buy some groceries. Of course, I wandered quickly through the wine isles and picked this up on sale (regularly $15.99 on sale for $9.99). I’m not sure if we have had this Sterling Vintner’s Collection Shiraz or not — I’m quite certain we have had the Cabernet Sauvignon. This is not the least bit disappointing. I wanted something nice for our Friday night (I am making spaghetti sauce and will steam some fresh spinach). This is a very fruity and lush big red with lots of pepper and ripe fruit. The wine is full bodied with velvety tannins. I want to add, as well, that the wine has substantial legs in the glass (along with a little piece of cork in my glass).

Cheers and happy Friday!

Melody…Just wanted to let you know that your blog posts make my day…I love checking your site and finding something new. Also, I read a hint recently that you can strain your wine through a coffee filter to remove the pieces of cork. Have a great wine-filled weekend.

Thank you, Vicki! The coffee filter is a good idea; I usually dip my finger in the glass and pull the chunks out. . .

Any trips planned for Southeastern Michigan? It would be so good to see you!
